On December 16th 2020, LSF Global presented second edition of Reinventing Careers and Skills for a COVID-19 World and hosted wonderful conference moderator Shaleena Mulchandani.

The event was our follow up to our event a few months earlier that we held in September, in our effort to support the working professionals of the Asia Pacific during the pandemic.

This time we were again kindly sponsored by Spaces and also generously by Mrs. Purviz R. Shroff, MH and Late Mr. Rusy M. Shroff, BBS, MBE.

This time we brought a speaker line up of more than 10 who shared their valuable knowledge and experience to the stage.

With the pandemic, causing even more disruption to careers and livelihoods discussing how people could reinvent their careers and skills for a COVID-19.

Kicking off the event we had Rob Sheffield -Managing Director, Greater China, Morgan Mckinley who covered top tips and advice on how you navigate the recruitment process virtually due to the pandemic. With his experience in recruitment, he also gave inside tips on how to ace things virtually and mistakes that candidates are making while navigating interviews online.

Hong Kong stands as a one of Asia’s largest financial hubs and Lavine Hemlani -CEO of Xccelerate was next up discussing implications of AI and how will people with existing roles in finance adapt their roles in the future.

In a thought provoking discussion Robert Amos -Head of Executive Compensation of Jardine Matheson talked about strategies for people facing difficult career situations, the  challenges that a face and some options on how to take action; evaluating the situation and looking at future options.

Next up we were lead by Aalok Gupta -LSF Global in a discussion with Ross Hui -Moody’s Asia Pacific, Betty Samuel -GP Strategies, Sofia Nordengren -DLA Piper and Antonio Ng -Formwork IO about how to adopt traits of a Resilient Leader. With a broad industry perspective, discussion covered; adapting to change and the elements to empowering resilience.

For many who’ve found themselves out of a job due to COVID-19, Janet Wang -Digital Growth Marketer and Twitter Instructor, talked about how to network and new approaches to doing it with the lack of face-to-fact contact. Janet also touched on another aspect to being out of a job and gave insight to what you can also do in the meantime with your personal development.

Our last speaker, Debbie Mannas -Head of OD and Talent, Sun Life Asia brought in discussion about how to upskill yourself. Debbie touched on the most important skills to gain right now and recommended courses that her organization has incorporated into their Learning and Development.

Just before we finished, we heard from Aalok Gupta -CEO Coach and Winnie Tam -Career Advocate on a session about Career Coaching. They also answered live questions from the audience who had questions about the development of their career.
